Halo CME Mail Date: Mon, 11 Nov 2002 17:57 From: Gareth Lawrence Subject: Partial Halo CME on 2002/11/10, frontsided ------------------------------------------------------------------------ UCMEO 93001 2111 2330/ 21110 60330 90942 0851/ 315// 223// 40981 21110 60312 90348 33811 10180 1112/ 99999 PLAIN BT LASCO and EIT observed a partial halo CME on 2002/11/10. The event was first observed in C2 at 03:30 UT as a bright loop front over the SW limb; by 04:06 UT the front spanned 200 deg from PA 85 - 285, with further very faint extensions in the NW. The front first appeared in C3 at 03:42 UT with maximal coverage of the C3 occultor by 05:18 UT. The mean plane-of-sky speed for this event was 981 km/s at PA 216, with slight acceleration possible through the fields of view. The CME was probably most associated with an M2.4 X-ray flare in AR0180. GOES records this flare between 03:07 - 03:58 UT with peak emission at 13:14 UT, centered on S12W37. EIT observed the flare between 03:12 - 03:48 UT with peak emission at 13:12 UT centered on S11W38. Both an EIT wave and dimming were associated with this event, both largely directed to the S and E of the active region and flare. Movies and images of this event are available now at: ftp://ares.nrl.navy.mil/pub/lasco/halo/20021110 Best wishes, Gareth Lawrence. ++ | Gareth Lawrence, E-mail:grl@kreutz.nascom.nasa.gov | | SOHO-LASCO Operations Scientist, | | CUA, Mail Code 682.3, | | NASA Goddard Space Flight Center, Phone: +1-301-286-2941 | | Building 26, Room 001, +1-301-286-3447 | | Greenbelt, MD 20771.
