Halo CME Mail Date: Tue, 30 Jul 2002 10:14 From: Gareth Lawrence Subject: Partial Halo CME on 2002/07/29. frontsided ------------------------------------------------------------------------ UCMEO 93001 20730 1600/ 20729 61145 92318 2401/ 040// 123// 40445 20729 60736 91100 43434 ///// 2222/ 99999 PLAIN BT LASCO and EIT observed a partial halo CME on 2002/07/29. The event was first observed in C2 at 11:45 UT as a bright loop front over the NW limb; by 12:42 UT the front extended from PA 240 to PA 40. The front first appeared in C3 at 12:18 UT with maximal coverage of the C3 occultor by 02:18. The plane of sky speed of the front was measured as 445 km/s at PA 310 (NW). The CME was most probably associated with an moderate eruptive prominence in the NW, which EIT observed between 07:36 - 11:00 UT. The prominence is most obvious at 10:13 UT centered on N34W34. On-disk activity was low during this time. Neither an EIT wave nor dimming were observed in association with this event. Movies and images of this event are available now at: ftp://ares.nrl.navy.mil/pub/lasco/halo/20020729 Best wishes, Gareth Lawrence. ++ | Gareth Lawrence, E-mail:grl@kreutz.nascom.nasa.gov | | SOHO-LASCO Operations Scientist, | | CUA, Mail Code 682.3, | | NASA Goddard Space Flight Center, Phone: +1-301-286-2941 | | Building 26, Room 001, +1-301-286-3447 | | Greenbelt, MD 20771.
