LASCO and EIT observed a full halo CME on 2002/07/18. The
event was first observed in C2 at 08:06 UT as a bright loop
front over the N pole; by 08:42 UT the C2 occulting disk
was surrounded and the leading edge was at or slightly beyond
the edge of the field of view. Note that emission in the SW
and SE is faint. The front first appeared in C3 at 08:18 UT
with full coverage of the C3 occultor by 09:18. The plane of
sky speed of the front was measured as 1090 km/s at PA 355 (NP).

The CME was most probably associated with an X1.8 X-ray flare
in AR0030, which EIT observed between 07:36 - 08:24 UT with
peak emission at 08:00 centered on N20W15. GOES observed the
flare between 07:24 - 07:59 UT with peak emission at 07:44.
Note that EIT cadence at present is such that this flare was
not optimally observed as the usual xx:48 image is missing.
A highly restricted and directed EIT wave was observed in
association with this event, primarily directed by the large
filament channel to the N and E. No dimming was observed.
