Halo CME Mail Date: Sat, 2 Feb 2002 18:06 From: Gareth Lawrence Subject: Partial Halo CME on 2002/02/02, most probably backsided ------------------------------------------------------------------------ LASCO observed a wide partial halo CME on 2002/02/02. A bright front was first seen in C2 in the NE at 14:54 UT and this front spanned ~220 deg from PA 320 to 180, crossing both poles, by 15:30 UT. GOES and EIT data show that the frontsided disk was extremely quiet during this time. This event has therefore been determined backsided. Movies of this event may be found at http://lasco-www.nrl.navy.mil/rtmovies.html Please note also that a sizeable coronal hole is about to rotate onto the sun-earth line, so some geomagnetic disturbances may be recorded in the near future.
