Halo CME Mail Date: Fri, 9 Nov 2001 17:14 From: Gareth Lawrence Subject: Partial Halo CME on 2001/11/09, backsided ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Following the successful momentum management and station keeping maneuvers this week, LASCOs doors were reopened today, 2001/11/09 and regular C2 and C3 white light observations were resumed shortly after 21 UT. It is clear from the handful of images presently available that a large partial halo CME spanning some 180 deg - primarily over the W limb but spanning both poles - occurred sometime before the doors were opened. The EIT data clearly show a large CME on or slightly over the W limb. This would be consistent with an event in or near AR9684, which has now rotated over the W limb. Therefore this event has been determined backsided.
