LASCO and EIT observed a faint full halo CME on 2001/03/25. The event
was first observed in C2 at 17:06 UT as a bright loop front over the
N pole. At 17:26 this front extended from about PA 350 to PA 40, with
fainter extensions down to about PA 150 and very faint extensions
around the southern and western regions that are only discernible in
running difference movies. The northerly front first appeared in C3
at 17:42 and the C3 occulting disk was surrounded by 18:18 UT. The
plane-of-sky speed of the leading edge through to about 18 Rs was
about 638 km/s at PA 15 (NE limb), with significant deceleration
observed through both coronagraphs' fields of view.

The CME was probably associated with a C9 X-ray flare recorded in
AR 9394 between 16:25 and 17:10 UT, with peak emission recorded at
16:36. (Note that SEC attributes this flare to AR 9402). EIT
recorded the flare between 16:24 and 18:12 UT with apparent peak
activity at 17:00 but with continuing activity until 20:36 UT. The
center of the region affected was N17E22 with the greater part of
activity somewhat to the N and E of this.
