Halo CME Mail Date: Mon, 12 Feb 2001 15:01 From: Gareth Lawrence Subject: Full halo CME, 2001/02/11 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ UCMEO 93001 10212 1900/ 10211 60131 90742 0001/ 360// 323// 40824 10211 60113 90136 35724 09346 1212/ 99999 PLAIN BT LASCO and EIT observed a full halo CME on 2001/02/11. The event was first observed in C2 at 01:31 UT, as a bright loop front over the NE limb. At 02:30 this bright front extended from about PA 275 to PA 30, while fainter extensions could be seen around the remainder of the C2 occulting disk. The north-westerly front first appeared in C3 at 02:18 and the the occulting disk was surrounded by 03:42. The plane-of-sky speed of the leading edge through to the edge of the C3 field of view was about 824 km/s at PA 310 (NW limb). The CME was probably associated with a GOES C6.5 X-ray flare in AR 9346. SEC recorded this flare between 00:57 - 01:46 with the peak at 01:23. EIT observed the flare at 01:13. The majority of the activity was close to the limb. Images and movies of this event are available at: ftp://ares.nrl.navy.mil/pub/lasco/halo/20010211.
