Halo CME Mail Date: Mon, 5 Feb 2001 17:56 From: Gareth Lawrence Subject: Partial halo CME on 2000/02/03 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ UCMEO 93001 10205 2230/ 10203 60030 90842 3301/ 220// 323// 40793 10202 62348 80125 18010 09334 1212/ 99999 PLAIN BT LASCO and EIT observed a partial halo CME on 2001/02/03. The event was first observed in C2 at 00:30 UT, as a bright loop front over the E limb. At 00:54 this bright front extended from about PA 20 to PA 135, while fainter extensions could be seen around the C2 occulting disk between PAs 330 to 20, and 135 to 220. The maximum angular extent was 250 degrees. The plane-of-sky speed of the leading edge through to the edge of the C3 field of view was about 793 km/s at PA 80 (E limb). The CME was probably associated with a M2.4 flare from AR 9334, located at about N10 E80. EIT observed this flare at 23:48. Much of the associated activity in EIT was very close to the E limb.
