Halo CME Mail Date: Mon, 5 Feb 2001 17:34 From: Gareth Lawrence Subject: Full halo CME on 2000/02/02 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ UCMEO 93001 10205 2140/ 10202 61454 90018 0001/ 360// 313// 40390 10202 61000 91048 18510 09335 3212/ 99999 PLAIN BT LASCO and EIT observed a full halo CME on 2001/02/02. The event was first observed in C2 at 14:54 UT, as a bright loop front over the E limb. At 15:30 this bright front extended from about PA 40 to PA 120, while fainter extensions could be seen around the remainder of the C2 occulting disk. The plane-of-sky speed of the leading edge through to the edge of the C3 field of view was about 390 km/s at PA 93 (E limb). The CME was probably associated with an eruptive prominence liftoff on or near the limb, near AR 9335. EIT observed the outward motion of the prominence from 10:00 to 10:48. All activity observed was on or very near the limb. Images and movies of this event are available at: ftp://ares.nrl.navy.mil/pub/lasco/halo/20010202.
