Halo CME Mail Date: Mon, 15 Jan 2001 20:43:26 +0000 (GMT) From: Simon Plunkett Subject: Partial halo CME on 2001/01/14 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ UCMEO 93001 10115 2040/ 10114 60630 91242 0701/ 265// 733// 40744 10114 60512 80800 43643 ///// 2212/ 99999 PLAIN BT LASCO and EIT observed a partial halo CME yesterday, 2001/01/14. The event was first visible as a bright lop above the NW limb in C2 at 06:30 UT. It later extended over about 165 degrees, from PA 70 in the NE, over the N pole to PA 265 in the W. The CME consisted of one or more loops, with a prominence-like core. The measured speed in the plane of the sky was 744 km/s at PA 340 (NW limb). EIT observed a large prominence eruption, that was mostly on or behind the NW limb, beginning at about 05:12 UT. Part of this eruption was on the disk, and extended from the NW limb almost to central meridian in the N. The central location of this extended disk activity was about N43 W36. Images and movies of this event are available at the LASCO ftp server: ftp://ares.nrl.navy.mil/pub/lasco/halo/20010114.
