Halo CME Mail Date: Sat, 25 Nov 2000 22:37:21 +0000 (GMT) From: Simon Plunkett Subject: Partial halo CME on 2000/11/23 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ As reported yesterday, LASCO and EIt observed a partial halo CME on 2000/11/23. The event was first seen in C2 at 20:30 UT, as a bright loop over the SE limb. It later extended over a range about 135 degrees, from PA 65 (NE limb) to PA 200 (SW limb). The measured speed in the plane of the sky was 1059 km/s at PA 125 (SE limb). EIT observed a filament eruption and subsequent arcade formation in or near AR 9239 (located at S21 E63), beginning at 19:26 UT. This activity extends over the SE limb, and probably extends behind the limb as well. Images and movies of this event can be found at the LASCO ftp server: ftp://ares.nrl.navy.mil/pub/lasco/halo/20001123b.
