Halo CME Mail Date: Sat, 25 Nov 2000 22:16:20 +0000 (GMT) From: Simon Plunkett Subject: Full halo CME on 2000/11/23 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ UCMEO 93001 01125 2215/ 01123 60606 91242 0001/ 360// 123// 40392 01123 60536 80726 33322 09238 2112/ 99999 PLAIN BT As reported yesterday, LASCO and EIT observed a full halo event on 2000/11/23. The event was first seen in C2 at 06:06 UT as excess material over the SW limb, with a bright loop in the same location at 07:31. It later became a full halo, although it remained faint in the NE. The measured speed in the plane of the sky was 392 km/s at PA 225 (SW limb). EIT observed activity in AR 9231 from about 04:00 UT on, but the main event was a filament eruption and C5.4 flare in nearby AR 9238 (located at S22 W33), beginning at 05:36 UT. A weak EIT wave accompanied this filament eruption. Images and movies of this event can be found at the LASCO ftp server: ftp://ares.nrl.navy.mil/pub/lasco/halo/20001123.
