From: Sara Martin To: MMmotd@mithra.physics.montana.edu Subject: MEOC Campaign Target Date: 21 November 2000 02:32 To MEOC participants, Over the past weekend and including today, Active Region #9231 continued producing major flares with EIT wave-effects and CMEs at the rate of approximately one per day. Although at least two of the active regions in the northeast have good CME/flare potential, they currently do not rival 9231 in producing major events. We anticipate continuing to choose 9231 until near the west limb especially for the possible opportunity to compare more westward wave-effects with CMEs associated with the same flares. For limited field instruments, the coordinates of the approximate center of active region target 9231 for 21 Nov. 2000 at 00:00 UT are: S24 W24 X= +354" Y= -425" The decaying active region south of the target region 9231(without a NOAA number) has been the "sleeper" CME producer - erupting twice with flares and CMEs (without obvious wave-effects) concurrently or near the time of major flares in 9231. We very much hope you are experiencing good weather for further recording of this amazing series of eruptive events.
