Halo CME Mail Date: Fri, 6 Oct 2000 22:27:52 +0000 (GMT) From: Kevin Schenk Subject: 20:26 UT HALO CME of 2000/10/02 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ UCMEO 93001 01006 2112/ 01002 72026 90042 1851/ 185// 113// 40525 01002 62000 82112 20704 09176 4212/ 99999 PLAIN The second of two events on 2000/10/02. Faint full HALO CME event. Event observed in both EIT and LASCO instruments. BT LASCO and EIT observed two (2) full halo CMEs on, 2000/10/02. Using the NOAA coding there will be two separate alert messages. We appologize for the alert message delay. The second event was visible in C2 at 20:26 UT as a faint loop front with material at all position angles. The speeds through the C2 and C3 fields averaged to 525 km/second, measured at PA 185 degrees. EIT observed a brightening which appears to be with a cme at 20:00-21:12 UT near central meridian in the southern hemispere from AR9176 at location [S7.3; E4.6]. This may be associated to the HALO CME event seen in LASCO. Images and Movies are available of both events today for your enjoyment at the LASCO ftp server: ftp://ares.nrl.navy.mil/pub/lasco/halo/20001002 Best wishes, Kevin Schenk EIT and LASCO Operations Goddard Space Flight Center, USA.
