Halo CME Mail Date: Fri, 15 Sep 2000 23:49:58 +0000 (GMT) From: Kevin Schenk Subject: 15:06 UT HALO CME 2000/09/15 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ UCMEO 93001 00915 2330/ 00915 71506 92200 1220/ 219// 113// 40467 00915 71436 81500 11402 09165 1212/ 99999 PLAIN The second of two events today, 2000/09/15. Faint full HALO CME event. Observed in both EIT and LASCO instruments. BT LASCO and EIT observed two (2) full halo CMEs today, 2000/09/15. Using the NOAA, ISES CME coding there will be two separate alert messages. The second event was visible in C2 at 15:06 UT as a faint loop front with material at all position angles. The speeds through the C2 and C3 fields averaged to 467 km/second, measured at PA 220 degrees. EIT observed a flare at 14:36-15:00 UT near disk center in AR 9165 at location [N14; E2.2]. GOES shows a M2 X-ray flare at 14:29 UT from AR 9165. This flare is probably associated to the HALO CME event seen in LASCO. Images and Movies are available of both events today for your enjoyment at the LASCO ftp server: ftp://ares.nrl.navy.mil/pub/lasco/halo/20000915 Best wishes, Kevin Schenk EIT and LASCO Operations Goddard Space Flight Center, USA.
