Halo CME Mail Date: Tue, 5 Sep 2000 17:45:51 +0000 (GMT) From: Simon Plunkett Subject: Partial (?) halo CME on 2000/09/05 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ LASCO and EIT observed a partial halo CME today, 2000/09/05. The event was first visible in C2 as a loop front over the N pole at 05:54 UT. The CME later extended at least from PA 300 (NW limb) over the N pole to PA 175 (S pole). There may also be a faint component along the W limb, which would make this event a full halo (hence the question mark in the subject line of this message). The measured speed in the plane of the sky is 362 km/s at PA 0 (N pole). EIT observed a filament eruption on the disk in the vicinity of AR 9152, located about N20 E21. This eruption began at about 04:12 UT. Images and movies of this event are available at the LASCO ftp server: ftp://ares.nrl.navy.mil/pub/lasco/halo/20000905.
