Halo CME Mail Date: Tue, 5 Sep 2000 15:26:17 +0000 (GMT) From: Simon Plunkett Subject: Partial halo CME on 2000/09/04 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ LASCO and EIT observed a partial halo CME yesterday, 2000/09/04. The event was first visible in C2 as a bright front over the NW limb at 06:06 UT. A highly structured prominence core was seen behind the leading edge. The CME extended from about PA 230 (SW limb) over the N pole to PA 25, a total extent of about 155 degrees. The measured speed of the leading edge was 693 km/s at PA 320 (NW limb). EIT observed the eruption of part of an extended filament, located on the disk at about N26 W37. This eruption began at about 04:36 UT. The part of the filament that erupted was oriented almost north-south. Images and movies of this event are available at the LASCO ftp server: ftp://ares.nrl.navy.mil/pub/lasco/halo/20000904.
