From plunkett@kreutz.nascom.nasa.gov Fri Aug 25 20:34:55 2000 Date: Fri, 25 Aug 2000 20:25:43 +0000 (GMT) From: Simon Plunkett Subject: Possible halo CME on 2000/08/25 LASCO and EIT observed a possible faint halo CME today, 2000/08/25. A bright event was observed in C2 above the East limb at 14:36 UT, with an associated faint component that extends at least over the North and South poles, and may also extend along the West limb. The halo component is too faint to measure a reliable speed. EIT observed an eruption on the East limb at 14:36, with activity also on the disk at longitudes greater than E60. A flare (X-ray class M1.4) was observed in AR 9143, located at about S15 E61, in EIT at 14:36 UT. Images and movies of this event are available at the LASCO ftp server: ftp://ares.nrl.navy.mil/pub/lasco/halo/20000825. Best wishes, Simon Plunkett. +----------------------------------------------------------------------+ | Simon Plunkett, E-mail: plunkett@kreutz.nascom.nasa.gov | | USRA, Mail Code 682.3, | | NASA Goddard Space Flight Center, Phone: +1-301-286-2941 | | Building 26, Room G-1, +1-301-286-3447 | | Greenbelt, MD 20771.
