Halo CME Mail Date: Mon, 24 Jul 2000 18:15:53 +0000 (GMT) From: Simon Plunkett Subject: Partial halo CME on 2000/07/23 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ LASCO and EIT observed a partial halo CME on 2000/07/23. The event was first visible in C2 at 05:30 UT over the S pole, where it appeared as a relatively faint front with a brighter trailing core. It later extended over about 160 degrees, from PA 75 (NE limb) over the S pole to PA 235 (SW limb). The measured speed of the leading edge was 529 km/s at PA 180 (S pole). EIT observed a filament eruption in AR 9097 (located at about N06 E25), and in a filament channel to the SW of this region, beginning at about 04:36 UT. The filament eruption extends past CM into the western hemisphere of the visible solar disk. Images and movies of this event are available at the LASCO ftp server: ftp://ares.nrl.navy.mil/pub/lasco/halo/20000723.
