Halo CME Mail Date: Mon, 24 Jul 2000 15:17:18 +0000 (GMT) From: Simon Plunkett Subject: Partial Halo CME on 2000/07/22 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ LASCO and EIT observed a partial halo CME on 2000/07/22. The event was first seen in C2 at 12:30 UT as a bright front in the NW. Later C3 images show that the CME extends over at least 290 degrees, from PA 20 (NE) all along the West limb to PA 90 (E limb). The measured speed of the leading edge was 1106 km/s at PA 280 (W limb). EIT observed a flare in AR 9085 (N14 W54), beginning at about 11:24 UT. This flare was classified as M3.7 based on X-ray observations. The CME is probably associated with this flare. Images and movies of this event are available at the LASCO ftp server: ftp://ares.nrl.navy.mil/pub/lasco/halo/20000722.
