From plunkett@kreutz.nascom.nasa.gov Mon Jun 26 17:12:42 2000 Date: Mon, 26 Jun 2000 15:04:00 +0000 (GMT) From: Simon Plunkett Subject: Partial halo CME on 2000/06/23 LASCO and EIT observed a partial halo CME on 2000/06/23. The event was first observed in C2 at 14:54 UT, as abright loop front over the NW limb. Fainter extensions could be seen later to the N and S of the main front. The angular extent of the event was about 180 degrees, from PA 190 (S pole) along the W limb to PA 10 (N pole). The plane-of-sky speed of the leading edge was about 847 km/s at PA 300 (NW limb). The CME was probably associated with a M3.0 flare from AR 9042, located at about N23 W62. EIT observed this flare at 14:36. Much of the associated activity in EIT was very close to the W limb. Images and movies of this event are available at: ftp://ares.nrl.navy.mil/pub/lasco/halo/20000623.
