From schenk@kreutz.nascom.nasa.gov Fri Jun 16 18:29:39 2000 Date: Fri, 16 Jun 2000 18:26:00 +0000 (GMT) From: Kevin Schenk Subject: Partial Halo CME on 2000/06/15 LASCO C2 and C3 observed a partial HALO CME on 2000/06/15. This event was first visible in C2 at 19:50 UT with a very large bright loop front at position angle of 300 degrees over the West limb. The extension of material spanned 260 degrees in difference images with a PA of 175-85 degrees wide. Accelerated speeds averaged through the C2 and C3 fields at 1058 km/sec. EIT observed an M1.8 flare from AR 9041 in the North West near the limb at location [N21.7; W54.1]. A fast CME is seen leaving the region at PA 295 degrees. There was also evidence in difference images of a filament along the Polar Crown lifting off starting at 20:24 UT. There is the probabillity of these two events participating in the CME seen in the Corona. Images and movies of this event are available on the LASCO ftp server: ftp://ares.nrl.navy.mil/pub/lasco/halo/20000615 Best wishes, Kevin Schenk EIT and LASCO Operations Goddard Space Flight Center
